In Nicaragua, the reality for many young girls is deeply troubling. The country has the highest rate of teen pregnancies in Central America, and nearly half—48%—are linked to sexual abuse. By law, any pregnancy in a girl aged 16 or younger is considered evidence of abuse. Tragically, this harm often occurs within the very families meant to protect them.

For many of these girls, pregnancy brings not only emotional trauma but also isolation. They may be abandoned by their families, forced to leave school, and left without a safe place to turn.

This is where Kenoli partner, Hogar Luceros del Amanecer—“Home of Bright Stars”—shines as a beacon of hope.

Located in the remote community of Camoapa, Hogar Luceros is transforming lives. The organization supports more than 500 children, offering school reinforcement, nutritious snacks, and opportunities for sports and recreation. The joy is unmistakable—children arrive eager to learn, play, and simply be kids again, their smiles lighting up the space.

But their impact goes even deeper.

Hogar Luceros walks alongside young mothers, providing guidance on healthy pregnancies, infant nutrition, and early childhood stimulation. These are not just lessons—they are lifelines. In a place where shame and abandonment once defined their experience, these young women discover something entirely different: friendship, dignity, and a renewed sense of purpose.

The change is profound—not only for the mothers, but for their babies, who now have a stronger, healthier start in life.

Hogar Luceros truly lives up to its name. It is more than a shelter or a program—it is a place where vulnerable girls and children are nurtured, supported, and empowered to become the bright stars they were always meant to be.

Congratulations to Hogar Luceros del Amanecer for lighting the way forward!
