On November 6 and 7, 2024, Kenoli organized a very successful exchange at the Hotel Lomas de San Thomas in Matagalpa. There, the Kenoli team met with 15 partner representatives. The objective was to share experiences, knowledge and challenges encountered during the implementation of the work in the country, mainly in the areas of early childhood development and food security and sovereignty. Hogar Luceros and Casa Pueblito participated for the first time.

Marcia Aviles, Executive Director of ODESAR-Matagalpa, shared the progress Nicaragua has made in human development and especially the different programs with a social focus. In addition, Marcia led the discussion of a new requirement for NGOs in Nicaragua — coordination with local institutions and authorities. For some, like El Porvenir, this has been part of their practice, but was now a signed agreement is required. Xenia from CEPROSI, presented the reporting system for the Ministry of the Interior and the transition they are making with the Revolving Funds. Ninoska explained the government’s online reporting form that has been effective since 2022.  The organizations are already managing it without the difficulties. A great achievement!

Early Childhood Development continues to present challenges that some organizations have turned into opportunities. CEPROSI, ODESAR and Hogar Luceros presented their work over the years in favor of child development. Magda and Balvina gave data and highlighted the importance of the work in the 3 areas: healthy pregnancy, nutrition and early stimulation. Enrique underlined the work in Kenoli App, so that the data is reliable and consistent so that it can be used for decision making. The event ended with the words from Vera Radyo.

Participants felt the event was a great success!  They learned from each other and took home learnings that they can apply in their work to be more effective.
