Asociacion Solidaridad

Improving the health and harmony of communities

Honduras has the second highest rate of teenage pregnancy in Latin America, with one in four births involving girls under the age of 19.  Additionally, Honduras faces significant challenges in food security, with a concerning 19% of children under five suffering from chronic malnutrition.

Asociacion SOLIDARIDAD is committed to improving the living conditions of rural families.  With Kenoli support, they conducted a very successful campaign with parents and teens on pregnancy prevention and planning in 5 communities.  They are continuing with an awareness campaign and trainings to ensure harmonious life within families and thus prevent gender violence and the abuse of women and children.  Masculinity and alcoholism are being addressed as part of the campaign.

In addition, Asociacion Solidaridad is working with nearly 60 children under age 5 to support their growth and development through diversified diets and produce from home gardens. Families are learning new skills and children are becoming healthier.  All are benefitting!
